THE ROAD CONTINUES: The Hawks continue their season-long four-game road trip this week with games against perennial GLVC East powers Southern Indiana and No. 5 Bellarmine. While the Hawks last paid a visit to Knights Hall in 2013, due to GLVC schedule rotation and travel partner changes, Quincy has not played at Southern Indiana since Feb. 22, 2010 when the Hawks lost, 79-71.

LAST LOOK AT LAST WEEK: The Hawks opened their road trip last week with games at Missouri S&T and Drury. Quincy pulled away from the Miners on Thursday, 87-70, by closing the game on a 27-8 run over the final eight minutes. On Saturday, the Hawks suffered a devastating defeat at Drury, 90-88, in overtime. Junior wing Godson Eneogwe (Chicago, Ill./Illinois Central) buried an improbable fallaway 3-pointer with 1.6 seconds left in OT to give the Hawks an 88-87 lead only to have Kameron Bundy hit a running buzzer-beater from 45 feet to shock the visitors. Eneogwe posted his first career double-double in the defeat.

UP NEXT: The Hawks return to Pepsi Arena Feb. 12 to play their second straight nationally-ranked opponent, No. 9 Indianapolis, followed by a home date against Saint Joseph's.

THE NATIONAL TREATMENT: While the Hawks wound up on the losing end of a thrilling overtime affair at Drury last week, the thrilling finish was shown throughout the country on multiple national blogs. By Monday morning, video of Eneogwe's 3-pointer and Bundy's game-winning heave circulated on Yahoo! Sports, NBC Sports and The Sporting News. It culminated Tuesday night when ESPN's @SportsCenter Twitter page tweeted a clip to the video to its 14 million followers. The clip received more than 2,000 retweets and 3,000 favorites. The only problem was ESPN's caption of the video: "A high school basketball game takes the phrase, 'Anything you can do I can do better,' to a whole new level!"

HEARTBREAK CITY: The loss to Drury was the second time this season the Hawks have been snakebitten by an opponent buzzer-beater. On Jan. 15, Maryville trailed Quincy by one and missed a 3-pointer, but scored on a tip-in just before the buzzer sounded to knock off the Hawks. QU has also lost 69-67 to Grand Valley State, 74-73 to Lindenwood and 88-84 to McKendree. On Jan. 25, the Hawks lost in overtime to defending national champion Central Missouri. Saturday's defeat to Drury marked the second straight year the Hawks and Panthers have gone to an extra period.

DON'T MISS A BEAT: The Hawks played last week without junior starting point guard Thomas Jackson (Louisville, Ky./Cincinnati State), who suffered an ankle injury late in the second half against William Jewell on Jan. 24. Senior Ja'mil Jones (Blythewood, S.C./Pasco Hernando CC) stepped into the starting lineup for just the second time in his career and played very well. Against Missouri S&T, Jones scored 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting, matched a career high with six assists and set a new personal best with four steals. Jones led the Hawks in scoring against the Panthers, tallying a career-high 22 points and knocked down 4-of-6 shots from 3-point range. Jones will remain in the lineup this week as Jackson continues his rehab. He will be re-evaluated next week.

DEFENSE: On the defensive end, the Hawks did not allow the Miners or Panthers to shoot 40 percent from the floor. Meanwhile, QU shot at least 50 percent in both games. The Hawks have kept each of their last five opponents under the 44 percent shooting mark, out-shooting their foes in each game. In recent weeks, the Hawks have also done a terrific job defending the 3-point line, a task the team struggled with earlier this season. Over the last 10 games, only one team has shot 40 percent or better from 3-point range against QU, and none have shot better than 42 percent. In fact, the Hawks are third in the GLVC in 3-point defense against conference opponents (.331).

THE BIG O: Offensively, the Hawks averaged 87.5 points per game last week and had five players average double figures. Jones led the way at 17.5 points per game, while redshirt-sophomore forward Evan McGaughey (Carthage, Ill./Illini West) averaged 17 points and 6.5 rebounds. QU shot 52.8 percent (57-108) from the floor last week.

HERM'S FLOOR GAME: Sophomore guard Herm Senor II (Springfield, Ill./Southeast) is strung together a couple of terrific games last week. He scored a team-high 19 points on 6-for-9 shooting with four rebounds and three assists against Missouri S&T. At Drury, the 5-foot-10 combo guard scored 10 points and dished out a career-high eight assists. Senor has scored in double figures in six of his last eight games and is averaging 4.1 assists per game in that stretch.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Even outside of the circus shot he hit to give the Hawks their late overtime lead against the Panthers, Eneogwe had a terrific game. He recorded his first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 8-for-13 from the field. He was  also good on 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Eneogwe is an explosive athlete, dangerous in transition, and has had several opportunities to display his abilities, which usually result in a high-flying dunk. Eneogwe has his scoring average up to double figures (10.0) and pulls down five rebounds per game.

ON BALANCE: The Hawks rank fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 82.2 points per game, but they have done so without a player among the league's top 30 scorers. Three players average at least 10 points per game, five average at least 9.7 points and all 10 major rotation players average at least 4.2 points per game. McGaughey is the Hawks' leading scorer at 11.6 points per contest.

THE BRUX FACTOR: Redshirt-sophomore forward Scottie Bruxvoort (Mitchellville, Iowa/Prairie City Monroe) is the first player off the bench for Marty Bell and has been productive in that role. He is QU's second-leading scorer (10.6 ppg) and ranks fifth in the GLVC in field goal percentage (.600, 72-120). Bruxvoort scored 16 points and pulled down six boards against Missouri S&T last Thursday.

BLOCK PARTY: The Hawks currently lead the GLVC in blocked shots, averaging 4.29 blocked shots per game. No other team is averaging four blocks. Junior forward Dalton Hoover (Pittsfield, Ill.) is fifth in the league with 1.38 blocks per game, while McGaughey and Eneogwe also rank in the top 15. Hoover had a career-high five blocks against McKendree on Jan. 10.

FREE THROW STRUGGLES: After building some confidence at the line for three straight games, shooting at least 70 percent from the stripe, the Hawks scuffled at the line against Drury. Quincy shot just 53.3 percent (16-30) from the line and rank 14th in the league in that category (.667, 358-537). QU leads the league in free throw attempts and is one of just two schools with 500 on the season.

DIVISION I EXPERIENCE: The Hawks played two exhibition games against Division I opponents this season, squaring off with the Big Ten's Illinois in the preseason in Champaign and taking on Illinois State of the Missouri Valley Conference on Dec. 29 in Normal, Ill. The Hawks and Redbirds have now played seven times in the last eight seasons. Quincy played a third exhibition game, coming in the preseason, when it hosted Division III Blackburn at Pepsi Arena.

THREE EXTRA FRAMES: When the Hawks won their triple-OT affair against Ferris State, it was QU's first time going three overtimes since losing to Saint Joseph's, 104-103, in the NCAA Tournament regional final in Owensboro, Ky. in 2010. The Hawks went overtime just once in 2013-14, falling to then-defending national champion Drury, 92-87, at Pepsi Arena. That makes two consecutive seasons the Hawks have taken the defending national champion to OT.

HIGH EFFICIENCY: Bellarmine's Jake Thelen shot 95.2 (20-21) from the field last week and averaged 21.5 points, nine rebounds and 4.5 assists.
