Lady Hawks Score Three in Win over Miners

QUINCY, Ill. - The No. 22 Quincy University women's soccer team netted three goals including Ashley Burton's 11th goal of the season in a 3-1 win over Missouri S&T Sunday (Oct. 11). Burton also assisted on goals scored by Taylor Lindwedel and Gabby Herrick. QU controlled the game with 18 shots and held possession for much of the game.

The No. 22 Lady Hawks (8-2-3, 5-2-3 GLVC) struck early in the match. Bailey Greubel sent in a corner in the ninth minute that Ashley Burton put toward the net. The shot was blocked and deflected to Taylor Lindwedel. Lindwedel finished the deflection for her first goal of the season.

S&T (1-10-1, 0-9-1 GLVC) answered with a goal in the 30th minute when Julie Bride took a cross from Taylor Vollmer on the left wing and finished inside the far post.

Ashley Burton answered with her 11th goal of the season in the 37th minute. Natalie Quisenberry sent a corner into the middle of the box that Burton redirected in giving QU a 2-1 lead.

In the 61st minute, Burton sent a pass to Gabby Herrick who found open space from 25 yards out and drilled her second goal of the season.

Megan Swanson made four saves all in the second half. She faced eight shots in her sixth win of the season.

The Lady Hawks travel to Louisville, Ky. on Friday (Oct. 16) to face Bellarmine University. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:55 p.m. CT.
