Hawks Fall to Tritons in Breast Cancer Awareness Game

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team hosted their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Saturday (Oct. 10) against the University of Missouri-St. Louis. QU raised over $1,300 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness this year. Proceeds raised by QU through a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, chuck-a-duck, and other forms of donations will be donated to Blessing Cancer Research Center in Quincy, Ill. The Hawks fell to UMSL, 3-0, in the match.

The Tritons (8-11, 4-5 GLVC) got ahead early in all three sets and held onto their leads. UMSL hit .330 in the match with 47 kills. The Tritons won the first set 25-17, followed by a 25-14 second set, and a 25-13 third set.

The Hawks (9-10, 4-5 GLVC) hit .105 and finished with four blocks.

UMSL recorded 76 digs in the match. Erin Walker led the Tritons with 21 digs. Lindsay Meyer recorded a double-double with 13 digs and 38 assists.Gina Pezze led UMSL with 13 kills.

The Hawks were led by Emily Lindemulder with eight kills and a .318 hitting percentage. Taylor McMonagle also had eight kills with eight digs. Rachel Shores led QU with 18 digs.

The Hawks hit the road next weekend to take part in the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Ill. on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 16-17). The tournament will pit Great Lakes Valley Conference teams against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Great Midwest Athletic Conference teams.
