Hawks Pull Out 5-4 Win Against Missouri Baptist

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis team came away with a close 5-4 win over Missouri Baptist on Saturday (Sept. 27) afternoon in St. Louis to close out its fall season with a 2-1 record in duel matches.

The Hawks won two matches in doubles play, starting with senior Ian Hinkamper (Quincy, Ill./QND) and Ethan Arns (Quincy, Ill./QND) taking a 9-7 decision at the first position.

Freshman Wyatt Pauley (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and freshman Michael Lesko (Columbia, Ill./Gibault Catholic) also won by two games, 8-6, at third doubles.

The teams split their matches in singles play, which was just enough for Quincy to get the win.

Hinkamper won at the top spot, defeating Conner Stevenson, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Patrick Kuhle (Decatur, Ill./Saint Teresa) defeated Yann Herve at second singles, 7-6, 6-2. Junior Chris Bueler (Hannibal, Mo.) was a winner at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-0, over MBU's Jed Flemming.

The Hawks will return for their fall season on Feb. 1 against Western Illinois.
