QU Takes Two Wins From Lewis & Clark CC

GODFREY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Godfrey, Ill. to face Lewis & Clark Community College in a dual match on Saturday (Sept. 20).  Both teams came away with wins to continue their impressive starts early in the fall season.  The Hawks won five singles contests and two doubles matches to win, 7-2.  The Lady Hawks swept Lewis & Clark, 9-0.   The QU men won their first dual contest of the fall season to improve to 1-0.  The QU women improve their record to 2-0 this season.

The Hawks (1-0) first doubles team of Ian Hinkamper and Ethan Arns started play with a 8-3 win over Lewis & Clark.  Arns and Hinkamper also picked up singles win and the number three and number one slots respectively.  

Patrick Kuhle and Ryan McMillan teamed up to win the second doubles contest, 8-1.  Kuhle also won his singles match in the second spot over the Trailblazers, 6-1 and 6-4.

Wyatt Pauley and Chris Bueler fell to the Trailblazers in the final doubles match, 8-5.  Pauley won the first set of his number four singles match, 6-2.  Lewis & Clark's Elliott Miller took the next two sets, 6-3 and 10-8, to win the match.  Chris Bueler won the sixth singles match 6-1 and 6-2.

Michael Lesko finished off the dual match with a 6-0 and 6-1 win in the fifth singles match.

Amy Kuhle and Sydney Lynch led the Lady Hawks (2-0) to a doubles win in the number one match with an 8-0 win.  Kuhle coasted to a 6-1 and 6-0 singles win as the QU number one.  Lynch won her singles match in the third slot with a 6-0 and 6-1 win.  

Elizabeth Kuenzi and Gabi Papachrisanthou won the second doubles match 8-2.  Kuenzi also won the second singles contest 6-0 and 6-1.  

Anna Morrissey and Morgan McGinnis won the third doubles match 8-1.  Morrissey and McGinnis both can away with 6-0 and 6-0 singles wins in the fifth and sixth slots respectively.

Michelle Gass won the fourth singles match 6-0 and 6-0 to complete the sweep for the Lady Hawks.

The men's and women's tennis teams welcome Ashford University to Reservoir Park for a dual match on Wednesday, Sept. 24.  The match is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
