Lady Hawks End 2014 with 99-43 Win Over Eagles

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball team played their final non-conference game of the regular season at Pepsi Arena against Robert Morris University-Springfield.  QU jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 99-43 victory.  The Lady Hawks shot 52.5% from the field and 46.2% from three.  RMU-S had 26 turnovers and shot 25.9% from the floor.

The Eagles (3-10) scored the first points of the game on a three-pointer off the hand of Laci Porter.  The Lady Hawks went on a 14-point run and eventually took a 34-7 lead with 12 minutes left in the first half.  The Lady Hawks entered halftime with a 66-20 lead over the Eagles.

Megan Wienstroer scored 19 points in the first half.  Wienstroer set a career mark in points, field goals, and three-point field goals.  The red-shirt freshman hit her first four three-pointers and finished five of six from beyond the arc.  She knocked down seven of nine shots from the field.  QU shot 55.6% from three in the first half.

The Lady Hawks stepped off the gas in the second half, but finished with a 99-43 win over the Eagles. 

Megan Wienstroer led the team in scoring with 19 points all in the first half.  Carly Bettencourt led the team with seven assists as the Lady Hawks dished out 25 dimes in the game.  Anika Webster led the team with 12 rebounds and scored 10 points for the first double-double of her career and the first by a Lady Hawk this season.  The Lady Hawks grabbed 50 rebounds including 18 offensive boards.  Bettencourt led all starters with 11 points.  Nia Roth scored 17 points off the bench with three treys.  Cierra Young scored 11 points as the Lady Hawk bench scored 69 points in the game. 

QU totaled 43 points off of turnovers, 20 second chance points, and 22 points on the fast break.  The Lady Hawks finished with 14 steals.  QU made 12 threes with 10 coming in the first half.  

The Lady Hawks will welcome No. 2 Lewis University to Pepsi Arena on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015.  QU will bring in the new year with the start of the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season slate.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
