The Quincy University women's tennis team dropped a conference match to Rockhurst University this afternoon, falling 5-1. With the loss, the Lady Hawks increase their losing streak to three matches.
Due to threatening weather forecasts, the two teams were forced to play a short match indoors. In doubles play, the Lady Hawks picked up their only win of the day with the help of
Pam Ganer and
Samantha Halfpap. In a nail-biting win, Ganer and Halfpap teamed up to defeat Erin Bales and Christine Schatz 9-8.
Allison Callahan and
Michelle Gass fell 8-5 to Karsyn Betts and Alex Schelble and
Ashley Longshore and Andrea Orzel were defeated 8-1 by Mary and Rachel Lanaghen.
In singles, Ganer fell 6-4, 6-4 to Betts while Callahan suffered a 6-1, 6-4 loss to Bales. Mary Lanaghen defeated Gass 6-0, 6-0 to round out Rockhursts' team win.
With the loss, the Lady Hawks fall to 2-3 in the GLVC. Quincy tennis is back in action Saturday, April 14th in a conference match featuring William Jewell College. If rain is in the forecast, the matches will be moved indoors to begin at 12:30 p.m.
