Mark Jones

Mark Jones enters his eighth season as head coach of the Quincy University women's volleyball program in 2026 after establishing the Hawks as one of the premier programs in the GLVC and NCAA Division II Midwest Region.

In seven seasons at Quincy, Jones has compiled a 149-59 overall record while leading the Hawks to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, four straight 20-win seasons, and a share of the 2024 GLVC regular season championship. Under his leadership, Quincy has captured its first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, hosted the NCAA Midwest Regional, earned the program's first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and reached as high as No. 19 in the AVCA National Poll.

The 2025 season saw the Hawks finish 24-7 overall and earn a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, extending one of the most successful stretches in program history.

Jones guided Quincy to a 25-6 record in 2024, marking the program's third consecutive 20-win season. The Hawks finished 11-2 in GLVC play to earn a share of the conference regular season championship, defended Pepsi Arena with a perfect 11-0 home record, and advanced to their third straight NCAA Tournament.

Following a 24-6 campaign and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2023, Jones reached the 100-win milestone at Quincy while coaching AVCA All-Americans Alice Pavan and Emma Wijnbergen, who also earned AVCA All-Region and All-GLVC honors. Brianna Merkel joined the duo as an All-GLVC selection.

Jones led the Hawks to one of the finest seasons in program history in 2022, posting a 28-3 record to set a new Division II-era program record for victories. Quincy won the NCAA Midwest Regional's No. 1 seed, hosted the regional tournament, earned the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, and climbed to No. 19 in the AVCA national rankings after opening the season with 14 consecutive victories.

Player development has been a hallmark of Jones' tenure. He has coached three GLVC Freshmen of the Year, multiple AVCA All-Americans, numerous All-Region selections, and dozens of All-GLVC honorees while consistently producing one of the conference's top programs.

Jones arrived at Quincy after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Indiana State University, helping the Sycamores earn a berth in the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and the program's first tournament victory.

Prior to Indiana State, Jones spent eight seasons as head coach at Manhattan College, leading the Jaspers to five MAAC Tournament appearances and four 20-win seasons while becoming one of only two coaches in program history to eclipse 100 career victories. During his tenure, he coached 11 All-Conference selections, the 2012 MAAC Freshman of the Year, the 2014 MAAC Player of the Year, and was named MAAC Coach of the Year in 2010.

Jones also served as head men's and women's volleyball coach at William Woods University, where he guided the Owls' men's volleyball program to the 2002 NAIA National Championship.

He began his collegiate coaching career at Washington State University, serving four years as head coach of the men's club volleyball team while assisting the women's program. Jones compiled a 99-22 record with the men's club team, winning four Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Volleyball Association championships.

Jones earned his bachelor's degree from Washington State University, where he was a four-year member of the men's volleyball team. He later earned a master's degree in education from William Woods University before completing a second master's degree in education with a concentration in sports administration from Tennessee State University.
