Andy Bunton

Andy Bunton enters his first season with the Quincy University baseball program in 2027 as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator.

Bunton comes to Quincy after spending two seasons on the coaching staff at Maryville University, where he worked primarily with the Saints’ infielders and baserunners. During his tenure, he helped develop five All-GLVC selections, including 2025 GLVC Co-Freshman of the Year Jace Burton. Cole Christman and Ambrose Russo earned Second Team All-GLVC recognition in 2025, while Jack Meyer, Steven Schneider, and Dominic Anselmo received second-team honors in 2026.

A native of Danville, Illinois, Bunton began his collegiate playing career at Danville Area Community College, where he spent three seasons as a middle infielder. In 2021, he earned First Team All-Region and All-Mid-West Athletic Conference honors while receiving the MWAC Gold Glove at shortstop.

Bunton later played three seasons at Maryville, starting 164 games at second base. He compiled a .323 career batting average with seven home runs, 63 RBIs, and 36 stolen bases. Defensively, Bunton posted a .982 fielding percentage and committed only 14 errors during his three seasons with the Saints. He was named to the All-Region Defensive Team in 2023 and 2024 and helped Maryville reach the NCAA Regional Tournament in both seasons. The Saints also established a program record for victories in each of his three seasons.

Bunton earned an associate degree from Danville Area Community College in 2021 and a bachelor’s degree from Maryville in 2023.

Outside of baseball, Bunton enjoys golfing and follows the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues.
