Biography

Personal: Bryce Edwards hails from Murphysboro, Illinois, where he attended Murphysboro High School and competed for the Red Devils. He is the son of Ryan and Jocelynne Edwards and has two brothers, Jeret and Colt. Athletics run deep in Bryce’s family; his mother, Jocelynne, was a two-time NJCAA swimming champion and a Missouri Valley Conference champion while attending Indian River and Southern Illinois University. His father, Ryan, played football at Southern Illinois University from 1997 to 2000.

Academically, Bryce excelled throughout high school, making the Honor Roll all four years and earning membership in both Beta Club and the National Honor Society. On the mat, Bryce established himself as one of the top wrestlers in the state. He was a four-time All-Conference and All-South selection, a three-time regional champion, a two-time sectional champion, and placed fourth at the state tournament. He also became Murphysboro High School’s all-time win leader with an impressive 170 career victories. In addition to his individual success, he helped lead his team to a regional and sectional team title and a top-eight finish at the IHSA 1A State Championship.

Beyond wrestling, Bryce was a multi-sport athlete, earning All-Conference honors in baseball and competing on the football field. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing. His favorite athlete is Khabib Nurmagomedov, and he is a proud supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals.
