Biography
2024 (Junior): In her first season with the Hawks, Janelle served as the libero, appearing in all 31 matches, where she had 53 assists, 20 service aces, and led the team with 455 digs (3.86 D/S). She had 25 matches with double-digit digs, including a season-high 25 against Indianapolis (11/16/24).
2023 (Sophomore at Southern): In her second season with the Jaguars, Pye-Blacknard appeared in 23 matches, starting in 19, where she totaled 126 kills (1.68 K/S), 11 assists, 21 service aces, 177 digs (2.36 D/S), and 15 total blocks for 155.0 points (2.07 P/S). She had four games with double-digit kills, including a season-high 16 against Louisiana Monroe (9/15/23). She also had eight matches with double-digit kills and had a season-high 16 three different times.
2022 (Freshman at Southern): In her first collegiate season, Janelle appeared in 25 matches and totaled 79 sets played, where she had 101 kills (1.28 K/S), 12 assists, 15 service aces, 140 digs (1.77 D/S), and 17 total blocks for 126.0 points (1.59 P/S). She made her collegiate debut against Eastern Washington (8/26/22), where she had four kills and three digs.
Personal:Â Janelle Pye-Blacknard is from Yorkville, Illinois, and a graduate of Yorkville High School. She is the daughter of Amber and Jocar Pye-Blacknard and has three siblings, Jace, Joelle, and Joré. Janelle began her collegiate career at Southern University, where she spent two seasons before transferring to Quincy University to continue her athletic and academic journey.
