Biography

Personal: Asiyah Ba’th is from Marlboro, Maryland, and graduated from Charles Herbert Flowers High School, where she played volleyball for the Jaguars. She is the daughter of Deborah and Jibril Ba’th and has eight siblings: Chevon, Talaya, Madinah, William, Nakiya, Tahirah, Jaseenah, and Saniyah. Throughout high school, Asiyah excelled both academically and athletically, earning the Principal's Honor Roll Award each year from 2021 to 2025, and participating in several honor societies and clubs, including the National Chinese Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. She was an active leader on campus, serving as Vice-President of both the Athletic Leadership Council and the Muslim Student Association, and managing social media for the American Sign Language Club.

On the court, Asiyah began as captain of the JV women’s volleyball team in 2021 before moving up to varsity, where she was a three-year participant and team captain. She helped lead her team to the MPSSAA 4A South Regional Championship in 2024-2025 and a runner-up finish in the PG County Championship. She was recognized as First Team All PG-County in 2024, received the Minds in Motion Scholar Athlete Award for four consecutive years, and broke the program record for most digs in a single season. Her many honors also include Most Improved Player, All-Rounder Award, and the Varsity Athletic Award.

Beyond academics and athletics, Asiyah enjoys poetry reading and writing, painting, animal care, cooking, and exploring new restaurants and cafés. She finds joy in nature walks, baking, and collecting figurines and stuffed animals. Inspired by athletes like Lexi Rodriguez and Elena Scott, she follows several collegiate sports programs, including Nebraska and Missouri volleyball, and has a deep love for helping others, particularly children, a passion nurtured by her active role in her mother’s daycare.

Why QU?
I chose QU because of its warm feeling of familiarity as I talked to students, staff, and faculty. Every person is treated with respect and kindness, students support each other in and outside of the classroom, and QU offers endless opportunities that stretch beyond what big universities can offer. QU will develop me as a person, a student, and an athlete, which led me to believe I will walk off the QU campus in four years a better person than when I first stepped on campus.
