Dave Musso

Musso is in his 12th season (2017-18) as the head coach of the Quincy University women's soccer team. He has guided the Hawks to the NCAA Tournament nine times and they have qualified for the GLVC Tournament every year. QU claimed back-to-back GLVC regular season and tournament titles in 2012 and 2013. He currently holds a 148-60-25 overall record through 11 seasons.

Musso's foundation since arriving at Quincy has been a strong team defense and quality student-athletes. Under his guidance, QU players have earned 10 All-America, 35 all-region and 49 All-GLVC laurels. In addition, the Hawks have had five CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-Americans, including two-time honoree Becky Fleming, 2012 honoree Brittany Casey and 2013 first Capitol One Academic All-American Jaclyn Mastroianni.

In 2013 the Lady Hawks added to their illustrious list of accomplishments across the conference, regional and national stages. Musso guided the Hawks to the longest NCAA Tournament run in his tenure, advancing to the Midwest Regional title game in Duluth, Minn. where they fell to eventual national champion Grand Valley State. The Hawks also won their second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season and tournament championships and were ranked as high as No. 8 in the national poll. QU set program records for wins (18), shutouts (15) and fewest goals allowed (nine).

Mastroianni was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year, Jodi Chapie was the Defensive Player of the Year and Musso was named the league's Coach of the Year for the third time in his career (2013, 2012, 2006). He was also named the NSCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year for his team's performance in 2013.

In 2012, Quincy went 16-3-2 for the season - tying a program record for wins. The Hawks earned the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region and hosted a second round game in the NCAA Tournament. The Hawks won the GLVC regular season championship for the first time since the 2006 season - Musso's first at Quincy - and won the GLVC Tournament Championship for the first time in the program's history. Musso won his 100th game in QU's regular season finale when the Hawks claimed the conference regular season title.

During that season, six Hawks garnered All-GLVC honors, including Sam Andert and Ashley Burton, who were named the league's Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively. That pair were also Daktronics and NSCAA All-Americans. He also coached six all-region players in 2012.

In 2011, Musso guided the Hawks to a 15-5-2 overall record and an 11-4-0 record in the GLVC.  With a defense that ranked nationally in shutouts, goals-against, and goals-against average, the Hawks earned their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance after a fourth place finish in the conference standings.  The praised Hawk defense tied a school record 14 shutouts while goalkeeper Jodi Chapie reached a school individual season record of 13 shutouts.

In 2010, Musso led the Hawks to 14-5-3 overall record and a 9-2-3 mark and a third place finish in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. With the belief of a strong defense the 2010 Hawks set a school record with 14 shutouts, marking the third straight year they have topped the previous year's program record. The Hawks also advanced to their school record fifth consecutive NCAA Division II National Tournament.

In 2009 the Hawks finished the year with a 15-6-1 overall record and a 10-2-1 mark in the GLVC. They put together two streaks of six consecutive shutouts in the season, program records, and finished with the second most wins in a season. The  Hawks won double digit conference games for just the third time in program history and advanced to the Midwest Region semi-finals of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

In 2008 Musso and the Hawks finished the year with a 12-7-2 overall record and a 9-3 mark in the GLVC. The Hawks also advanced to their third national tournament and advanced to the semi-finals after a thrilling shootout win in the first-round over Tiffin.

In 2007 the Hawks finished with a 14-6-1 overall record and a 10-3 conference record. They advanced to their second straight national tournament and it marked the first time since the mid-90's the program had not only advanced to back to back tournaments but also recorded back to back double digit win seasons.

The 2006 season marked Musso's first season and he made an immediate impact with the program. Musso guided the Hawks to a school record 16 wins, going 16-5 overall and capturing the GLVC regular season title with an 11-2 mark. Musso led the Hawks to their first national tournament appearance since 1995 and put together a program record 13 game winning streak to open the season. He was named the 2006 GLVC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Prior to his time at Quincy, Musso served as an assistant coach for two years at Lindenwood University. He assisted with the men's program in 2004 when the team finished 19-3-1 and won the NAIA National Championship. In 2005, he moved over to the school's women's program as an assistant, helping Lindenwood to a 17-3-1 overall record and finishing in the national rankings.

Musso, a native of St. Louis, Mo. and a graduate of De Smet High School, maintains his strong ties to the soccer-rich St. Louis Metro area.

Musso played collegiately at Quincy University where he was a four-year letterwinner for the Hawks. He was twice named an All-GLVC performer and earned All-Region honors as a senior. In addition Musso served as a team captain and was named the team's best defender in 2003 and was a two-time Academic All-GLVC member.

Musso graduated from Quincy in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in sports management, and in 2007, received his teaching certification in physical education and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lindenwood.

In addition to his college coaching duties, Musso is on the education staff for the Missouri Youth Soccer Association. He also runs camps and helps educate soccer coaches and players at various national events.
