Ali Schwagmeyer-Belger

Quincy University alumna and former GLVC Player of the Year Ali Schwagmeyer-Belger ’15 returns to her alma mater as the head coach of the Hawks women’s basketball program. A standout student-athlete, accomplished professional player, and rising coaching talent, Schwagmeyer-Belger brings a deep connection to the QU community and a proven commitment to developing student-athletes on and off the court.

Schwagmeyer-Belger joins Quincy University after serving as the head women’s basketball coach at John Wood Community College for the 2024–25 season. Prior to her time at JWCC, she coached at the junior high and high school levels within the Camp Point Central girls basketball program, building a strong foundation in player development and program leadership. She also gained collegiate coaching experience as an assistant coach at Hannibal-LaGrange University.

A Camp Point native, Schwagmeyer-Belger was one of the region’s most dominant prep players, graduating from Camp Point Central High School as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,950 career points and earning all-state honors twice. She began her collegiate career at Charleston Southern University before transferring to Quincy University, where she solidified herself as one of the top players in the GLVC.

During her two seasons with the Hawks, Schwagmeyer-Belger earned GLVC Player of the Year honors as a junior after leading the conference in scoring (17.8 PPG) while adding 6.6 rebounds, 121 assists, and 45 steals. She followed with another standout campaign as a senior, averaging 18.0 points and 7.9 rebounds with 86 assists and 56 steals. A two-time First Team All-GLVC and First Team All-Midwest Region selection, she remains one of the most decorated players in program history.

Following her collegiate career, Schwagmeyer-Belger played professionally overseas in Germany, Spain, and Australia. She averaged double figures in scoring throughout her international career and earned all-star distinction during her time with Perth in Australia’s top league.

A respected teacher of the game and passionate advocate for athlete development, Schwagmeyer-Belger also co-runs the 25 Eight Mentality AAU program alongside her husband, former QU point guard Courtney Belger ’12. Their work emphasizes skill development, competitive mentality, and investment in local talent throughout the Quincy region.

Returning to QU marks a full-circle moment for Schwagmeyer-Belger, who is dedicated to shaping a program built on competitiveness, integrity, and excellence. Her vision centers on empowering young women to excel both on the court and in life while representing Quincy University with pride.
