Quincy University Hawks

2025-26 (Freshman): Gartrell made an immediate impact during his freshman season with the Hawks, competing in nine tournaments and totaling 21.5 rounds. He led Quincy with a 75.4 stroke average, finishing the year with 1,621 total strokes while leading the Hawks in two tournaments.

Gartrell made his collegiate debut at the Arch Cup (9/2/25), where he tied for 16th out of 64 golfers after shooting a 147 (+5). His top finish came at the Las Vegas Warrior Invitational (3/11-12/26), where he led the Hawks with a third-place finish after carding rounds of 69, 72, and 73 for a 214 (-2). The performance earned Gartrell the first GLVC Player of the Week honor in Quincy men’s golf history. He also added a tied-for-third finish at the Bearcat Dual Gender (10/20-21/25), shooting a 221 (+5).

Personal: David Gartrell is a Charlotte, North Carolina, native who played at Piedmont High School for the Panthers. A standout on the course, he was named the 3A Rocky River Conference Player of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons. The son of Kristin and Mike Gartrell, David enjoys playing basketball in his free time. He lists Max Homa, LeBron James, and Russell Westbrook as his favorite athletes and supports the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Reds.
