Personal: Thompson is from Troy, Illinois, and attended Triad High School, where he competed for the Knights.

He is the son of Brian and Kimberly Thompson and has two siblings, Lucas and Logan. His mother, Kimberly, played basketball at SIUE and earned All-American honors, while his father, Brian, played basketball at St. Louis College of Pharmacy and scored 1,000 career points.

Thompson was named an Illinois State Scholar during his high school career. On the court, he earned IBCA All-State honors and was named MVC Conference Player of the Year. He helped Triad win three MVC Conference championships, three Class 3A Regional championships, and one Class 3A Sectional championship, while finishing his career with 1,000 points and 104 wins.

Away from the court, Thompson enjoys playing video games and cooking. His favorite athletes are Russell Westbrook and Jared McCain, while his favorite teams are Illinois men’s basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.
