Mike Kindhart, a full-time sergeant with the Illinois State of Police, returns to Quincy University after a six-year hiatus from working with the Hawks.

Coach Kindhart spent 20 years on the Hawk basketball staff, serving multiple head coaches during that span. Coach Kindhart has played integral roles in conference championships and NCAA appearance teams from the Hawks sideline.

 Kindhart joined the Quincy University Hawks in 1999 after serving as the head boys basketball coach at Payson Seymour High School for nine years. The Hawks have played in five NCAA Tournaments with Kindhart on the staff.

Kindhart’s duties with the Hawks in his first stint included scouting, perimeter player development and assisting with practice organization. Kindhart had a career record of 139-89 at Payson Seymour, including a Class A regional championship in 1992-93. He is now an Illinois state trooper and is active in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.

Kindhart and his wife, Karmon, live near Payson with their daughter, Bailey, and son, Brady.
