Quincy University Hawks

Brad Hoyt enters his third season as head coach of the Quincy University men's basketball program in 2026-27.

Through his first two seasons at the helm, Hoyt has guided the Hawks to a 22-34 overall record. Quincy finished 10-18 during his debut season before improving to 12-16 in 2025-26.

Hoyt came to Quincy following a highly successful tenure at John Wood Community College, where he served as both head men's basketball coach and athletic director. He compiled a 269-156 record with the Trail Blazers, becoming the winningest coach in program history.

Hoyt has coached basketball in the Tri-State area for more than a quarter century, spending the majority of that time at John Wood as either head or associate head coach. He also spent three seasons as the head coach at Culver-Stockton College.

During his tenure at John Wood, Hoyt guided the Trail Blazers to six Mid-West Athletic Conference Championships and four national tournament appearances. He was a four-time Conference, Region, District, and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Hoyt also developed numerous standout players, including eight conference and region Players of the Year, eight NJCAA All-Americans, 27 All-Region selections, 30 All-Conference honorees, and four Conference Freshmen of the Year.

In addition to his coaching and administrative duties at John Wood, Hoyt served as Dean of Student Affairs and was a founding member of the NJCAA Diversity Committee. He also held several leadership positions within collegiate athletics, including Mid-West Athletic Conference men's basketball chair, Region 24 men's basketball Division II chair, and men's Region 24 director, overseeing all men's sports within the region.

Hoyt has been a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association since 2004 and the National Association of Basketball Coaches since 1999.

Hoyt and his wife, Nikki, have three children: Sydnie, Jake, and Luke.
