Biography

2024 (Graduate): In his final season, Drake was the starting QB in all nine games for the Hawks. He tossed for 1693 yards and 11 touchdowns to go along with 128 rush yards and two rushing touchdowns. Davis had a completion percentage of 64.07 (173-270), which led the GLVC. His season-high in passing yards came against Truman State (10/19/24), where he had 316 yards to go along with three touchdowns.

2023 (Graduate): In his first season with the Hawks, Davis appeared in nine games under center, where he threw for 1629 yards and 16 touchdowns while only throwing two interceptions. Davis had a completion percentage of 62.12 and averaged 181.0 passing yards per game. Drake also had 202 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. 

His passer rating of 155.9 ranks 10th all-time for a season in GLVC football history to date. 

David made his debut for the Hawks against Chadron State (9/1/23), where he had 165 passing yards, a passing touchdown, and a rushing touchdown. In the next four games, Davis had three passing touchdowns in each game with only one interception thrown.

2022 (Senior at NMU): Davis saw action in seven games as a senior and threw for 832 yards and five touchdowns. He had a 64.17 completion percentage to go along with his 225 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

2021 (Junior at NMU): As a junior, Davis played in ten games for the Wildcats, where he tossed 1580 yards and 11 touchdowns on 251 attempts. Drake also rushed for 321 total yards and five touchdowns, which led the team. Davis made his collegiate debut against McKendree (9/4/21), where he threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

Davis also helped out in the special teams unit, as he had nine punts for a total of 303 yards for an average of 33.67 yards per punt. He pinned four of his nine punts inside the 20-yard line.

Personal: Drake Davis is from Princeton, Illinois, and graduated from Naperville North High School, where he was a key player for the Huskies. He is the son of Spencer and Annette Davis and has four siblings: Wyatt, Cael, Teegan, and Keighley. Before coming to Quincy, Davis spent four seasons at Northern Michigan University.


During his high school career, Drake established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the state. In 2017, he was named the Naperville Sun Player of the Year, earned a spot on the Illinois 8A All-State team, and was recognized as the DuPage Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He also received honorable mention All-State honors in 2016 for Illinois 1A and was a three-time first-team all-conference quarterback in the Three Rivers Rock Division. In 2017, he was also selected as the first-team quarterback for the DuPage Valley Conference.

His high school stats speak for themselves—Drake totaled 9,878 yards, with 7,686 passing yards and 2,192 rushing yards. He accounted for 108 touchdowns overall, including 77 passing, 28 rushing, and three defensive scores.

Outside of football, he enjoys hunting and fishing. He finds inspiration in fighters like Tony Ferguson and Max Holloway.
