Biography

2024 (Sophomore): In his first season with the Hawks, Dontrell appeared in one game, making his collegiate debut against Lincoln (9/7/24), where he rushed twice.

2023 (Redshirt Freshman at Alabama A&M): Did not see action.

2022 (Freshman at Coastal Carolina): Did not see action.

Personal:  Dontrell Jackson Jr., a standout dual-threat quarterback from Marist High School in Illinois, was widely recognized as a top-tier recruit in the Class of 2022. He earned three-star ratings from Rivals, 247Sports, and On3 and was ranked a 3.5-star prospect by QBHitList.com. Rivals ranked him as high as the 13th-best quarterback nationally and the 21st-best prospect in Illinois, while 247Sports listed him as the 92nd-best quarterback and the 33rd-best player in the state. On3 placed him 23rd among Illinois recruits. Jackson was also named the "Alpha Dog" of the Chicago Elite 11 Opening Regional by 247Sports. 

At Marist, under head coach Ron Dawczak, he lettered in football and led the team to a 9-4 record and a trip to the Class 8A state semifinals. His senior season was highlighted by 2,224 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, a 60% completion rate, along with 556 rushing yards and five scores. Notable performances included a 342-yard, two-touchdown game in the state semifinals and a four-touchdown, 263-yard effort in the quarterfinals. Jackson earned IHSFCA Class 8A Honorable Mention All-State honors and was named to the CCL/ESCC Blue Division All-Conference team. He was also invited to the prestigious 10th Annual QB/WR Challenge at the NUC All-American. Football runs in the family—his father, Dontrell Jackson Sr., played quarterback at Ohio University and served as head coach at Thornton High School in Illinois.

Before coming to Quincy, Dontrell spent his freshman season at Coastal Carolina University, where he redshirted, and then transferred to Alabama A&M for one season.
