QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's soccer team travels to Romeoville, Illinois, on Wednesday for a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup against Lewis University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.
The Hawks enter the contest with a 3-1-2 overall record and a 2-0-1 mark in GLVC play after earning a statement 1-0 victory over then-No. 13 Missouri S&T on Saturday.
Lewis enters Wednesday's match at 2-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play after battling Rockhurst to a scoreless draw.
While Quincy enters with momentum following one of its biggest wins of the season, Lewis has proven to be a difficult opponent for the Hawks historically, making Wednesday's matchup another important early conference test.
Last Time Out
Quincy earned a signature victory Saturday by defeating nationally ranked Missouri S&T 1-0 at Legends Stadium.
After a scoreless first half,
Leo Cann broke through in the 60th minute with the game's lone goal.
Rylan Fischer played a through ball into Cann after receiving it from
Jose Perez, with both picking up assists on the play.
The Hawks controlled much of the action offensively, outshooting the Miners 13-9 overall and 4-1 in shots on goal. Quincy also held an 8-2 advantage in shots during the first half.
Defensively, the Hawks delivered one of their strongest performances of the season, limiting one of the conference's top offenses and recording their second shutout of the year.
The goal marked Cann's fifth of the season, extending his lead atop Quincy's scoring chart.

The statistics suggest Wednesday's matchup could be another defensive battle.
Through six matches, Quincy has scored 11 goals while allowing just five. Lewis has scored five goals and conceded five through its first five contests.
The Hawks have shown more consistency in the attacking third, averaging nearly two goals per match, while Lewis has relied heavily on its defensive organization to remain competitive.
Both teams have recorded two shutouts this season, and neither side has allowed more than five total goals.
One of the biggest differences entering the match is offensive production.
Cann leads Quincy with five goals, while

Lewis, meanwhile, has received one goal each from five different players and does not have a player with multiple goals this season.

Quincy and Lewis have already faced two common opponents this season in Parkside and Purdue Northwest.
The Hawks dropped a 2-1 decision at Parkside in their season opener, while Lewis earned a 3-0 victory over the Rangers.
Against Purdue Northwest, Quincy secured a 1-1 draw thanks to a late equalizer from Nwosu. Lewis suffered a 1-0 loss to the Lions despite holding an advantage in shots.

Quincy continued to search for an equalizer and finished with seven shots while holding an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks, but the Hawks were unable to break through.
The recent history gives Lewis an edge in the series, but Quincy enters Wednesday playing some of its best soccer of the young season.
Scouting Lewis
The Flyers have relied on a balanced offensive attack, with five different players accounting for their five goals this season.
Aiden Durbin, Santino Moriconi, Connor Pate, Antonio Sasso and Kacper Sikon have each found the back of the net once.
Moriconi leads the team with nine shots and four shots on goal, while Pate has recorded five shots with three on target.
Goalkeeper Matija Blazic has provided stability for the Lewis defense, recording 11 saves while helping the Flyers produce two shutouts.
That defense was especially important in Saturday's scoreless draw against Rockhurst. Lewis was outshot 12-3 and managed only one shot on goal, but Blazic made five saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Lewis finished 5-6-7 overall and 4-6-4 in conference play last season but features a younger roster in 2026.
Several key contributors, including Durbin, Pate, Sasso, Sikon and Blazic, are freshmen.
Despite the youth movement, longtime head coach Evan Fiffles brings plenty of experience and is in his 35th season leading the Flyers.
