INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Quincy University men's soccer team has tied for 8th in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) preseason coaches' poll with 102 points. The preseason poll is selected by the league's head coaches who are not permitted to vote for their own team.

Head coach Mike Carpenter enters his 15th season with the Hawks after leading a 6-6-2 record in the conference last year and led the team to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2020-21. This year brings new chances to advance in the conference and dominate from the beginning. 

A major strength for Quincy this year are their experienced group of returners and newcomers, which provide them depth and a wide skill set against opponents. Leo Cann returns as a junior after scoring 4 goals while adding 3 assists for 11 points. Senior Josh Nwosu finished last season with 5 goals and has recorded over 2,000 minutes in his career. Both Cann and Nwosu provide experience and prove to be offensive threats. 

Jake Offerman steps back into goal this season as he proved to be one of the conference's best keepers. He played every minute of every match and posted a 0.78 goals-against average while also recording 6 shutouts and 69 saves. 

In front of Offerman, Ryan Myatt and Colin Imig stand firm in the defense by bringing leadership and consistency which will be needed as the season kicks off. 

The poll places Quincy in a position to build on last season and to translate their hard work to the field with each upcoming match. 

The Hawks begin their season on Thursday, August 27th at 12:00 PM hosted by Parkside in Kenosha, WI.
