ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Quincy University men's tennis team dropped its second straight match Saturday afternoon, falling 5-2 to Maryville University at the Dwight Davis Center.
The Hawks opened the match strongly by sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the opening point. The pairings of
Inigo Villacampa and
Enrique Doldan, Rodrigo Coello and
Patricio Jimenez, and
Gerard Abad Puig and
Cristobal Tellez each earned victories.
Quincy's other point came at No. 1 singles, where Villacampa continued his strong run with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. The win marked Villacampa's ninth consecutive singles victory.
Maryville claimed the remaining singles courts to secure the team result.
Gael Castro pushed his match to three sets at No. 5 before falling in the deciding set.
The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, April 10, against Southwest Baptist.
