QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day in dominant fashion on Friday afternoon, defeating Lewis University 17-10 at QU Stadium. The Hawks used a big second quarter to take control and never looked back, snapping a two-game skid in the process.

Mikenna Ham,
Amelia Ham,
Emily Leal,
Elise Bruggeman,
Jaynie Chatman,
Madison Whiting Wagner, and
Rebecca Ritter for their contributions to the program.
Lewis struck first with a man-up goal early in the opening quarter, but the Hawks responded quickly. Moran tied the game off an assist from Leal, and after Lewis regained the lead, Leal answered with a goal off a Moran assist to even things at 2-2 after one.
The Hawks took full control in the second quarter with a dominant 7-2 run.
Alaina Wilkinson gave Quincy its first lead of the game before Ritter scored her first career goal on a man-up opportunity, igniting the offense. Wilkinson added another goal, while Leal scored twice during the stretch, followed by a goal from Chatman and another from
Amelia Ham to push the lead to 9-4 at halftime.
Quincy continued to build its lead in the third quarter.
Amelia Ham scored early before Moran added a goal off an
Amelia Ham assist. Ritter then capped her career day with her second goal of the game, extending the Hawks' advantage to 12-6 heading into the fourth.
The Hawks kept their foot on the gas in the final quarter.
Amelia Ham opened the scoring with back-to-back goals before Moran and Wilkinson each added goals to extend the lead to 16-8. Lewis added a pair of late goals, but
Amelia Ham capped the scoring with her fifth goal of the day to seal the 17-10 victory.
Quincy controlled the game statistically, outshooting Lewis 33-23 and holding a 16-13 advantage in draw controls. The Hawks also won the ground ball battle 15-10 and forced 15 turnovers while committing just 11 of their own.
Amelia Ham led the Hawks with eight points on five goals and three assists, marking the fourth time this season she has recorded eight points in a game. She now sits just two points shy of the Quincy career record in points. Leal added six points on three goals and three assists, while Wilkinson finished with five points on three goals and two assists. Moran also contributed four points with three goals and an assist.
Ritter had a memorable Senior Day performance, scoring her first two career goals. Mikenna added four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and four draw controls, while
Madison Whiting Wagner recorded six saves in goal to earn the win.
The Hawks will be back in action on Sunday at 11:00 AM for their final game of the season as they host No. 3 Indianapolis at QU Stadium.
