KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Quincy University women's tennis team came up just short in a tight GLVC matchup on Saturday, falling 4-3 to Truman State.
The Bulldogs claimed the doubles point after winning the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Quincy's lone doubles win came at No. 1, where
Mahi Panchal and
Anna Matino earned a 6-3 victory.
The Hawks battled back in singles play with wins at Nos. 1, 2, and 6. Panchal earned a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 victory at the top spot, while Nadia Araguas rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2.
Sofia Tesic added a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.
The deciding point came at No. 4 singles, where
Anna Matino forced a third set before Truman State's MaryGrace Seymour pulled away for the win.
Heidi Navas also battled into a second-set tiebreak at No. 5 before falling in straight sets.
The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, April 24, at 2:00 PM as they continue GLVC play against Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.
