QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy continued its strong stretch of play Friday night, defeating Southwest Baptist 8-4 at QU Stadium for its fourth straight victory and eighth consecutive win over the Bearcats.
Southwest Baptist jumped in front early with three straight singles to begin the game, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI fielder's choice in the top of the first. The Hawks answered immediately in the bottom half.

Joe Huffman ripped a two-run double to right center to put Quincy in front 2-1.
Quincy added another run in the second inning when
David Broughton launched his team-leading seventh home run of the season over the left field wall. The Hawks extended the lead to 4-1 in the third after Huffman was hit by a pitch, moved to third on a
Payton Mansfield double, and scored on a wild pitch.
Roman Harrison settled in after the opening inning and kept Southwest Baptist off the board through the next four frames. The senior earned the win in his final career start at QU Stadium, allowing three runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings while striking out five.
The Hawks created more separation in the fifth inning. Huffman doubled to begin the frame and later stole third before scoring on a throwing error. Broughton then lined an RBI single down the left field line to make it 6-1 and drive in his second run of the night.
Southwest Baptist put together a rally in the sixth inning, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 6-3, but Quincy answered again in the bottom half.
Ben Dahlof singled and came around to score when Fudge ripped an RBI double that turned into a triple after an error.
The Bearcats scored once more in the eighth inning to make it 7-4 before Fudge delivered the final blow in the bottom half with his fourth home run of the season. The solo shot gave him a team-high 41 RBIs on the season and capped the scoring at 8-4.
Dahlof recorded his 15th multi-hit game of the season, finishing 2-for-4 and raising his batting average to .364. Fudge went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and two RBIs for his sixth game this season with at least three hits. Huffman reached base in all four of his plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBIs, two walks, a hit by pitch, and two stolen bases. He now owns a .475 on base percentage this season and a perfect 18-18 on stolen base attempts. Broughton added two hits and two RBIs with his seventh homer of the year.

Dylan Graw worked into the eighth inning, and
Matt Miscik earned his first save in a Quincy uniform by recording the final five outs, including three consecutive strikeouts to close out the game.
The Hawks will be back in action with a doubleheader tomorrow with first pitch of game one scheduled for 2:00 PM.
