Hawks Win Third Straight, Moran Surpasses 100 Career Points in 13-4 Victory Over Findlay

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's lacrosse team continued its strong stretch of play on Friday afternoon at QU Stadium, picking up its third consecutive victory with a commanding 13-4 win over Findlay. Quincy controlled the game from the opening draw, locking down defensively while celebrating a milestone moment as Anni Moran surpassed 100 career points in the victory.

The Hawks jumped out quickly in the opening quarter, setting the tone early. Amelia Ham opened the scoring at the 12:59 mark after picking up a ground ball and finishing the possession herself. Just under a minute later, Alaina Wilkinson extended the lead with a goal off an assist from Emily Leal to make it 2-0. Ham struck again moments later to push the advantage to three before Moran added a free-position goal midway through the quarter to cap a four-goal run and give Quincy a 4-0 lead. Findlay answered late with two goals, trimming the margin to 4-2 after one quarter.

The Hawks regained momentum in the second quarter despite Findlay briefly pulling within one on a man-down goal. Quincy responded with a dominant stretch offensively, beginning with an unassisted strike from Leal. Amelia Ham then found the back of the net twice in a span of just over two minutes, both assisted by Wilkinson, before Leal converted a free-position opportunity late in the half. Quincy closed the quarter on a 4-0 run to take an 8-3 lead into the break.

Quincy continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, opening the half with another free-position goal from Leal. Jenna Lang added to the lead later in the period with a man-down free-position finish to make it 10-3. Findlay managed one late goal in the quarter, but the Hawks remained firmly in control heading into the final frame with a 10-4 advantage.

The fourth quarter belonged to Moran, who helped seal the victory while reaching a career milestone. Moran scored twice in the opening minutes of the period, including a man-down goal and another tally off an assist from Ham, pushing Quincy's lead to 12-4. Ham later added her fifth goal of the afternoon on a man-up opportunity with just over three minutes remaining to close out the 13-4 win.

Ham led the Hawks offensively with five goals and one assist, while Leal added three goals and one assist. Moran finished with three goals, reaching the 100-career-point milestone, and Wilkinson contributed one goal and two assists. Lang also found the net once in the victory for her first goal of the season and fourth of her career.

Defensively, Quincy controlled the pace throughout the game. The Hawks forced 23 Findlay turnovers and held the Oilers to just 11 total shots, while Quincy fired 40 shots and held a 25-8 advantage in ground balls. Elise Bruggeman anchored the defensive effort with a career-high three caused turnovers, while Mikenna Ham added six ground balls and two caused turnovers. In goal, Ava Condos and Madison Whiting Wagner split time for Quincy, combining to allow just four goals.

With the win, the Hawks continue their momentum heading into another home contest. Quincy will be back in action on Sunday, March 8, at 1:00 PM at QU Stadium, when they welcome a tough Ashland University squad to town.
