QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University STUNT team split a pair of matches on Senior Night inside Pepsi Arena, falling to Division I Missouri State 22-8 before bouncing back with a strong 14-7 victory over Missouri Valley in the nightcap. The Bears showcased the depth of a top Division I program by performing the full slate of routines, while the second match of the evening turned into a competitive battle that saw the Hawks pull away to cap the night with a win.
In the opening match against Missouri State, the Bears jumped out early by taking three of the four points in the first quarter to lead 3-1. Quincy managed to grab a point in the second quarter, but Missouri State continued to show its depth, winning the quarter 4-1 to build a 7-2 halftime advantage.
Missouri State maintained control after the break, winning the third quarter 5-2 as the Bears executed several routines cleanly to extend their lead to 12-4. Quincy showed resilience in the fourth quarter, scoring four points, but Missouri State's depth proved difficult to overcome as the Bears secured 10 points in the final period to close out the 22-8 victory.
The Hawks regrouped in the nightcap against Missouri Valley, which proved to be a much tighter contest throughout the evening. Missouri Valley edged Quincy in the opening quarter, 3-2, to take the early lead.
Quincy responded in the second quarter with a dominant defensive showing, sweeping the quarter 2-0 to take a 4-3 lead into halftime. The Hawks began to take control in the third quarter, turning in one of their strongest performances of the night with seven points compared to three for Missouri Valley, pushing the lead to 11-6.
The Hawks continued their strong execution in the fourth quarter, again outscoring Missouri Valley 7-3 to seal the 14-7 Senior Night victory inside Pepsi Arena.
Quincy will return to action on Saturday, March 21, when the Hawks host multiple teams inside Pepsi Arena. Quincy is scheduled to face Drury University at 3:45 PM before taking on Southwest Baptist at 6:15 PM.
