HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Quincy University women's tennis team dropped its third consecutive match during spring break play, falling 5-2 to North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday.
The Hawks opened strong in doubles play, earning a win at No. 1 as
Mahi Panchal and
Anna Matino secured a 6-3 victory, snapping a five-match doubles losing streak for Panchal. However, North Carolina Wesleyan claimed the remaining two doubles courts to take the opening point.
In singles action, Quincy picked up two wins. At the top spot, Panchal continued her impressive stretch with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 victory, extending her singles winning streak to five matches. Nadia Araguás added a straight-set win at No. 2 singles for the Hawks' second point.
North Carolina Wesleyan secured victories at Nos. 3 through 6 singles to clinch the team result. With the loss, Quincy moves to 5-6 on the season.
The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday, March 18, when they take on Asbury University.
