HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Quincy University women's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 5-2 victory over Asbury University on Wednesday morning.
The Hawks set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the opening point. The pairings of
Anna Matino and
Mahi Panchal,
Heidi Navas and
Maria Sarria, and
Sofia Tesic and Nadia Araguas each earned victories to give Quincy the early advantage.
Quincy carried that momentum into singles play, winning four of the six courts. Araguas earned a straight-set victory at No. 1, while Navas and Tesic added wins at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
Kaitlyn Brown battled back in a three-set match at No. 6 to secure the final point for the Hawks. Asbury claimed victories at Nos. 2 and 5 singles.
With the win, Quincy improves to 6-6 on the season. The Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, March 29, when they travel to Belleville, Illinois, for a matchup with Southwestern Illinois College.
