HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Quincy University men's tennis team picked up its 10th win of the season Wednesday morning with a 5-2 victory over Asbury University.
The Hawks secured the doubles point by winning two of the three courts. The No. 1 duo of
Inigo Villacampa and
David Eusamio earned a 6-3 win, while
Gerard Abad Puig and
Alvaro Rueda added a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Quincy carried that momentum into singles play, capturing four courts to seal the match. At the top spot, Villacampa delivered another strong performance with a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win, extending his singles winning streak to seven matches.
Abad Puig added a straight-set win at No. 2, while Eusamio battled through a three-set match to earn a comeback victory at No. 3.
Carlos Santana also picked up a win at No. 6 to round out the Hawks' scoring. Asbury claimed points at Nos. 4 and 5 singles.
With the win, Quincy improves to 10-4 on the season. The Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, March 29, when they travel to Belleville, Illinois, for a matchup with Southwestern Illinois College.
