O'FALLON, Ill. – The Quincy University women's tennis team fell 5-2 to McKendree University on Sunday afternoon at O'Fallon Township High School.
The Bearcats took the early advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches to secure the opening point. Quincy's lone doubles victory came at No. 2, where
Heidi Navas and
Maria Sarria earned a 6-4 win.
Quincy responded in singles play with a pair of victories. At the top of the lineup,
Mahi Panchal continued her strong stretch of play with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Kristina Bogomazova, who is ranked 20th in the region. The win marked Panchal's fourth consecutive singles victory.
Brittney Kelly also picked up a straight-set win at No. 6 singles, defeating Diana Calzada 6-4, 6-4. The victory improves Kelly to 3-1 in singles matches this season.
McKendree claimed the remaining singles courts to secure the team result. With the loss, Quincy moves to 5-5 on the season.
The Hawks will be back in action during spring break on Monday, March 16, when they face North Carolina Wesleyan University at 7:30 AM CT from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
