QUINCY, Ill. – The Hawks opened the 2026 season in style, hosting their first-ever STUNT Tournament inside Pepsi Arena and turning in a strong opening weekend with a 3–1 record, earning wins over Central Methodist, St. Norbert, and Buena Vista.
Quincy began the tournament against Maryville, falling 27–4 in the opener despite steady progress throughout the match. Maryville controlled the early rounds, taking a 4–0 lead after the first quarter and extending its advantage through the middle frames. Quincy found points in each of the final three quarters, including a pair in the team routine, but ultimately could not close the gap against a veteran Saints squad.
The Hawks quickly rebounded in one of the most memorable matches of the weekend, edging Central Methodist 20–19 in a thrilling eight-round triple overtime contest that brought a lively Pepsi Arena crowd to its feet. The teams were tied after the first quarter before Quincy gained separation in the second. Central Methodist answered in the third and fourth quarters to force overtime, setting the stage for a dramatic finish. In the combined overtime rounds, the Hawks delivered when it mattered most, outscoring the Eagles 7–6 to secure the walk-off victory.
Quincy closed the tournament with a pair of dominant performances, shutting out St. Norbert 10–0 and Buena Vista 8–0. Both matches were contested over eight rounds, with the Hawks controlling every routine and showcasing their growth across all areas of competition.
With three wins in the opening weekend, Quincy has already surpassed its win total from last season, continuing to take noticeable steps forward in year two of the program.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, February 14, traveling to H.D. Kesling Gymnasium to face Lewis Flyers at 12:15 PM and Purdue Northwest Pride at 3:30 PM.
