Quincy Builds Toward GLVC Championship Race

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's cross country team is set to put its fall season to the test this Saturday, November 7th, as the Hawks travel to Springfield, MO., for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.

Hosted at Allison Sports Town, the conference meet will feature the men's 8K race beginning at 9:00 AM, giving Quincy an opportunity to compete against the conference's top distance runners.

After four meets this fall, the Hawks have steadily built toward the postseason, gaining valuable experience and developing their pace throughout the season.

Each competition has provided an opportunity for runners to challenge themselves, improve their times and strengthen their performances as the conference championship approaches.

Last Meet for the Hawks

The Hawks last competed at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational on October 10th, where Quincy wrapped up its regular-season schedule ahead of the conference championships.

The meet provided another opportunity for the team to test its progress against competitive fields, with several runners continuing to establish strong times heading into the postseason.

Austin Prince led the men's team with a time of 28:11.7 in the 8K, breaking his previous Quincy record-book mark of 28:11.9 by two-tenths of a second. Joe Warning followed with a time of 28:30.1.

Vinny Olson also finished among the Hawks' top runners, as well as Oliver Moore, Peyton Anders, Austin Schull, Keegan Sensmeier, and Owen Buie.

The invitational provided one final opportunity for Quincy to test its progress and prepare for the GLVC Championships, with the Hawks looking to carry their momentum into Saturday's conference race.

Leading Up to GLVC Championships

Quincy has seen continued progress across its lineup, with several athletes recording personal bests and establishing themselves among the program's top performers.

The improvements throughout the fall have highlighted the team's development and provided encouragement heading into Saturday's race.

The GLVC Championships will also feature several returning Hawks who are familiar with the demands of conference competition.

Those runners will look to use their previous championship experience to approach this year's race with confidence, aiming to improve upon their times from past appearances while helping Quincy compete throughout the field.

With the regular season serving as preparation for this weekend, the Hawks will look to translate their progress into strong championship performances. Saturday's race presents an opportunity for Quincy to showcase its speed, endurance and continued growth while closing out the fall season against conference competition.

The men's 8K race will begin at 9:00 AM at Allison Sports Town in Springfield, MO., followed by the women's 6K race at 10:00 AM.
