KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Quincy University men's soccer team closed out the 2026 regular season Wednesday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Truman State University at Stokes Stadium.
The loss moved Quincy to 6-4-7 overall and 5-3-6 in GLVC play, closing conference play with 21 points.
Neither side was able to break through during an evenly played opening 45 minutes. Quincy and Truman each attempted five shots in the first half, while the Hawks generated six corner kicks compared to five for the Bulldogs. Mathias Bringedal produced Quincy's lone shot on goal of the half in the 26th minute, but Truman goalkeeper Owen Robben made the save to keep the match scoreless.
The Bulldogs broke the deadlock quickly after halftime.
Just 1:25 into the second half, Tyler Bouckaert set up Cody Bland, who found the back of the net at the 46:25 mark to put Truman State ahead 1-0.
Quincy pushed for an equalizer throughout the remainder of the match. Jose Perez registered an attempt in the 60th minute before Rodrigo Bandeira, Carter Venvertloh and Leo Cann all generated chances later in the half.
The Hawks' best late opportunity came in the 86th minute when Josh Nwosu put a shot on target, but Robben made the save to preserve Truman's one-goal advantage. Bandeira followed with another attempt in the 88th minute, but Quincy was unable to find the equalizer before the final whistle.
Quincy finished with a 12-10 advantage in total shots and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks, but Truman held a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. Jake Offerman played all 90 minutes in goal for the Hawks and made five saves.
The Hawks were held scoreless for the second consecutive match and seventh time this season.
Despite the loss, Quincy has secured a spot in the eight-team GLVC Championship Tournament. The Hawks finish conference play with 21 points, and while several teams still have matches remaining, Quincy cannot fall outside the top eight based on the remaining point possibilities and applicable head-to-head tiebreakers. The Hawks' final seed remains unsettled and will be determined following the conclusion of the remaining GLVC regular-season matches. The GLVC lists head-to-head competition as the first tiebreaker for teams tied in the conference standings.
Quincy can finish anywhere from the No. 5 through No. 8 seed in the conference tournament. The GLVC Championship quarterfinals are scheduled for October 31-November 1 at campus sites.
