INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has released the preseason coaches' poll for men's tennis, and the Hawks are projected to finish third out of five teams in the West Division, totaling nine points.
Drury leads the West Division with 15 points and three first-place votes, while Rockhurst sits close behind in second with 13 points and two first-place votes. Southwest Baptist and William Jewell round out the division in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
The Hawks have already seen plenty of action this spring, posting a 4-1 record while also competing at the ITA Midwest Regionals and the EU Invitational under first-year interim head coach
Zach Willing. Last season, Quincy finished with a program-record 13 wins, going 13-9 overall with a 2-2 mark in GLVC play.
Junior
Inigo Villacampa leads the charge for the Hawks during the spring season, compiling an 8-1 singles record and a 4-3 mark in doubles play. The reigning GLVC Freshman of the Year is looking to earn his third consecutive First Team All-Conference selection. Villacampa is joined by six freshmen, along with transfers
Gerard Abad Puig and
Marko Cucuk, who bring experience within the program.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, February 7, when they host Missouri Baptist University at the Quincy Racquet Club. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
