Quincy Tennis Sweeps Grand View on the Road

DES MOINES, Iowa – Quincy University men's and women's tennis turned in another dominant day on the courts, as both squads blanked Grand View University 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at Birdland Park. With the victories, the Hawk women improved to 3-0 on the year, while the men's team moved to 3-1.

On the women's side, Quincy opened strong in doubles play. The No. 1 pairing of Mahi Panchal and Anna Matino rolled to a 6-1 victory, while Maria Sarria and Nadia Araguas secured a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot. In singles, Panchal dominated with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at the top court, and Sarria followed with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Brittney Kelly battled through a three-set thriller at No. 3, rallying for a 2-6, 7-5, 11-9 win to complete the sweep. With Grand View unable to field a full roster, the Hawks picked up three wins by default.

The men's team was equally sharp, sweeping through doubles with commanding play. Inigo Villacampa and Rodrigo Coello earned a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Patricio Jimenez and Alvaro Rueda posted a 6-3 win at No. 2. David Eusamio and Gerard Abad Puig closed out doubles with a flawless 6-0 win. In singles action, Villacampa set the tone with a 6-4, 6-0 win at the top spot, while Enrique Doldan followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Abad cruised to a double-bagel win at No. 3, and Eusamio secured a straight-sets victory at No. 4. Jimenez and Rueda closed out the sweep with decisive wins, including Rueda's 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 6 singles.

The Hawks' dominant performances continued their early-season momentum, with both programs combining for back-to-back sweeps over the weekend. The men will continue their fall slate at the ITA Midwest Regionals in Allendale, Michigan, beginning Friday, September 27, while the women will wait a bit longer before returning to action at their ITA Midwest Regionals in Grand Rapids, Michigan, starting Saturday, October 4.
