GLVC Announces Women's Wrestling as Sponsored Sport

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced Thursday it will start sponsoring women''s wrestling as its 27th sport, beginning in the 2025-26 academic year.

After spending their first three seasons without a home for conference action, the Hawks will be joined by inaugural full-time league members McKendree University, Upper Iowa University, and William Jewell College, as we as associate members Davenport University, Grand Valley State University, and Northern Michigan University, all out of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

QU has yet to face off with Upper Iowa, Davenport, or Northern Michigan in its first three seasons, but has done battle with nationally-ranked Grand Valley State last season, split two duals with William Jewell over the past two seasons, and squared off each of the last three seasons with perennial national powerhouse McKendree.

Over their first three campaigns, the Hawks have compiled a 25-21 record under head coach Jeff Haley, experiencing a truly transformative year in 24-25. A season that saw QU women's wrestling enter the national polls for the first time, send a record six national qualifiers to the NCWWC tourney, and earn not just its first regional champion, but also the program's first national placer and All-American in Trinity Pendergrass

The inaugural GLVC women's wrestling champion will be determined upon winning percentage of conference matches only.
