QUINCY, Ill. - After turning in the best national tournament finish in QU swimming history with a 6th place showing in the 400IM,
Wyatt Walsh was named the Toyota Star of the Week.
The Toyota Star of the Week aims to highlight the top Quincy University performer for the given week across all 28 Hawks' sports. Toyota has been a continued sponsor of QU Athletics, supporting all Hawks to soar to new heights.Â
Two years after becoming the Hawks' first national tournament qualifier, and a season removed from missing All-American status by .23 seconds in the 400IM, Walsh became the first national tournament placer in program history with a 3:51.48 400IM swim on Thursday evening (Mar. 13), good for sixth place overall in the event, also securing the Hawks' first All-American status for the Ely, United Kingdom native.Â
Other strong performances from Walsh over the weekend included a new personal best 4:26.65 in the 500 freestyle, good for a consolation final qualification on Friday, as well as a new program record 1:47.68 effort in the 200IM Wednesday.Â
The Hawks' junior currently holds seven program records along with the top eight times in the 400IM. Walsh and the Hawks look forward to making an even bigger splash next season!Â
