CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Quincy University men's tennis team continued its impressive run, securing its sixth consecutive victory with a 5-2 win over the University of the Ozarks on Sunday afternoon at the Alexander-Boreham Tennis Center.
The Hawks (7-4) claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Reigning GLVC Player of the Week Iñigo Villacampa teamed up with Joseph Restrepo for a 6-4 victory at the top spot, while the No. 3 pairing of Gerard Puig and Pablo Mateos Niella outlasted their opponents 7-5 to give Quincy the early advantage.
Villacampa carried his strong play into singles action, delivering a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1. Restrepo followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2, while Gianni Lopez secured another straight-sets victory at No. 3, winning 6-2, 6-2. Puig added a key win at No. 4, rallying from a set down to claim a 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 triumph in a third-set tiebreaker.
Rodrigo Trevino and Marko Cucuk battled in three-set matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, but both fell in tiebreakers as the Eagles (5-3) picked up their only two points of the match.
