QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks had a fantastic day on Sunday (Feb. 9), hosting the Vikings of Grand View University for a 7-0 win that saw Quincy only lose four total games as a team between five singles and two doubles matches.
Mahi Panchal picked up a victory in No. 1 singles action with a straight-sets win over Melanie Ortega 6-3, 6-0.
QU didn't drop a game between No. 2-No.4 singles as
Katrin Ismailova defeated Elizaveta Ordinteva,
Ana Alvarez bested Jayah Kent and
Anna Matino got the better of Reese Casey all by 6-0, 6-0 score lines.
Nora Hennessy won her No. 5 singles match over Chloe Hobscheidt 6-0, 6-1 and
Brittney Kelly collected a win by default, not facing an opponent from GVU.
In doubles action, the pairing of Panchal and Ismailova defeated the duo of Kent and Ortega by a perfect 6-0 score as did the Hawks grouping of Matino and Alvarez in their victory over Casey and Ordinteva. A default winner for Hennessy and Kelly closed the book on a dominant doubles showing for Quincy.
