QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks dropped a hard-fought match to the Saints of Maryville 5-2 on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 8) at the Quincy Racquet Club.
QU got wins from
Inigo Villacampa and Gerad Abad Puig in singles action along with a doubles victory for the pairing of Villacampa and
Joseph Restrepo.
Villacampa continued his fine run of form in the early season, taking his No. 1 singles match over Jose Hernandez 6-2, 6-4 for the first point of the day for Quincy before Abad Puig went the distance in his match with Markos Prentits, coming away with a 6-3, 2-6, [11-9] winner to close out the scoring for QU.
Gianni Lopez dropped his 2's match 6-7 [5-7], 3-6 while Restrepo went the distance against Juan Suero in a 6-2, 1-6, [5-10] loss in his No. 3 match.
Rodrigo Coello Trevino and
Pablo Mateos Niella ended singles action for Quincy with 0-6, 5-7 and 2-6, 0-6 defeats.
In doubles action, the paring of Villacampa and Restrepo took the top doubles match over the pairing of Hernandez and Prentits 6-2 while Coello Trevino and Lopez fell to Suero and Jack Quilty 1-6. In the decider, the duo of Abad Puig and Mateos Niella dropped a tight 5-7 match to Michael Delaloye and Diego Alvarez.
