QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's basketball team hung tough in Thursday's matchup with a strong Missouri S&T side, but ultimately weren't able to keep up the pace with the fifth-ranked Miners in a 91-82 defeat at Pepsi Arena.
Four Hawks scored in double figures led by a career-high17-point effort from
Joshua Bocher who finished 4-4 from the field and 9-10 at the charity stripe while also adding eight boards, three blocks and a pair of assists as the Hawks shot a solid 46.3% on the night but were plagued by an ice-cold 15.8% from beyond the arc.
Logan Robbins scored the first Quincy bucket of the game to put the Hawks ahead 2-1 before 7-0 Miners run found QU behind 8-2. The Miners built the lead up to as many as night, leading 25-16 heading into the 12-minute media timeout.

Max Booher three ball trimmed the deficit to just a point at 26-25. QU trailed within a couple of possessions for the rest of the way to a 44-38 score at the half.
S&T came out firing in the second half, quickly pressing the advantage to double digits and keeping it there for the majority of the second half as the Hawks struggled to get much of anything going against the formidable Miners defensive front.
Quincy closed out the game on a 7-0 scoring run thanks to a three and free throws from Booher to got with a
Camren Kincaid layup, but it was too little too late as the No.5 Miners were able to hold off the Hawks to remain unbeaten in GLVC play.
Joining Bocher in double figure scoring was Booher with 15 points along with a career-high and team-leading nine boards as well as 12 points for
Ethyn Brown and 12 points with a team-leading seven assists for Kincaid.
