Hawks Sweep Central; Roll Past Concordia Nebraska

PELLA, Ia. – The Quincy University men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, securing a pair of commanding victories. The Hawks shut out Central College 7-0 before defeating Concordia University, Nebraska, 6-1 to cap off a successful day on the courts.

Match 1: Quincy 7, Central 0

The Hawks opened with a clinical shutout over Central College, winning all six singles matches and taking two out of three in doubles play.

In singles action, Inigo Villacampa set the tone at No. 1 with a swift 6-0, 6-1 win, while Joseph Restrepo followed up with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Gianni Lopez (6-1, 6-2), Gerard Abad Puig (6-3, 3-6, 11-9), Rodrigo Coello Trevino (7-5, 6-4), and Marko Cucuk (6-2, 6-2) all secured wins to complete the singles sweep.

In doubles, Villacampa and Restrepo clinched a 6-4 victory at the top spot, while Abad Puig and Pablo Mateos Niella locked in a 6-3 win at No. 3 to give the Hawks the doubles point.

Match 2: Quincy 6, Concordia (Neb.) 1

Quincy continued its strong form against Concordia but dropped one match in singles play.

Villacampa took care of business at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 victory, while Restrepo fell at No. 2, 0-6, 6-4, 10-5. Lopez (6-1, 6-2), Abad Puig (6-4, 7-6 (7-2)), Coello Trevino (6-2, 7-6), and Cucuk (6-1, 3-6, 10-7) all picked up wins to secure the team victory.

The doubles teams showed their strength, with Villacampa and Restrepo securing a 6-2 win at No. 1, while Lopez and Coello Trevino cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 2.
