QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's basketball team was unable to keep up the pace with a hot shooting McKendree squad on Thursday evening (Feb. 20), falling behind early due to a barrage of Bearcats' three pointers that found the Hawks at a deficit the rest of the way in a 62-76 defeat.
Max Booher got the Hawks on the board with a three-pointer just over a minute into the contest to pull QU back within a bucket at 5-3 before the Bearcats went on a 12-1 run over the next three and a half minutes to press the edge to 17-4.
It was a relatively even half from that point on as MCK only outscored Quincy by three over the final 16 minutes of the frame to a 48-31 score at the break.
Back-to-back strikes from deep for Booher and
Camren Kincaid trimmed the Bearcat lead back to single digits at 53-44, until another Booher and
El Sieger went back-to-back shortly after to pull QU back within a couple possessions at 56-50.
McKendree responded with a 6-0 swing to move back out in front by double digits and kept it that way for the final 8:42 of the ballgame.
Booher led four Hawks in double figures, doing all of his scoring beyond the arc, going for 12 points on four threes. Sieger chipped in 11 points with a trio of threes along 11 from
Logan Robbins and 10 points for Kincaid.
