QUINCY, Ill. – The Toyota Star of the Week returns for the 2025-26 season, spotlighting outstanding performances across Quincy University's 28 athletic programs. The first honoree of the new year is Callan Ivy of QU Men's Wrestling, after a dominant showing at the Luther Hill Invitational in Indianola, Iowa.
The Toyota Star of the Week was launched during the 2024-25 athletics season and is back this year to recognize the top Hawk performer of each week. Toyota has continued its valued partnership with Quincy University Athletics, helping Hawks soar to new heights through its ongoing support of student-athletes and programs across campus.
Ivy kicked off the season on the mat in commanding fashion, going a perfect 3-0 to capture the Open 184-pound division title. In his opening match, Ivy defeated Casey Kinnell of Nebraska Wesleyan by fall in 2:44, before earning a decisive 11-3 major decision over Nathan Rosas of Central College. He capped the day in style, cruising to an 11-1 major decision victory over Chris Wohrley of Graceland University in the championship bout.
This marks the second straight season Ivy has claimed the Luther Hill Invitational title at 184 pounds, and his third career tournament championship, adding to his first-place finish at last year's Service Salute Open.
It's a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign for Ivy and the Hawks' men's wrestling squad, who posted several podium finishes in the season opener. Fans can read more about the team's full results from the Luther Hill Invitational HERE.
Ivy and the Hawks return to action this weekend for a two-day event at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas — the same site where QU notched four dual wins and crowned four individual champions, including Ivy, at last season's Service Salute Open.
