OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - The Quincy University sprint football team delivered a dominant all-around performance on Friday night, shutting out Oakland City University 34-0 on the road. The victory marked head coach
Kirkland Burton's first career win at the helm of the Hawks program.
Running back
CJ Jackson had a career day, rushing for 201 yards on 26 carries and scoring four touchdowns to lead a balanced Quincy attack. Jackson broke his own single-game rushing record in QU sprint football history, surpassing the 182 yards he set earlier this season against Bellarmine, and also set a new single-game rushing touchdown record, eclipsing his previous mark of three scores against Fontbonne in 2023. The Hawks controlled the game from start to finish, leaning on a powerful ground game and an aggressive defensive effort to earn their first shutout of the year.
Quincy opened the scoring in the first quarter when Jackson powered into the end zone from one yard out, capping a 10-play, 50-yard drive that drained 6:40 off the clock. The senior back struck again late in the second quarter with a two-yard touchdown run with 1:55 left in the half, giving the Hawks a 14-0 lead at the break.
Jackson continued to shine in the second half, finding the end zone twice more — a five-yard score with 8:14 left in the third quarter and a 25-yard burst early in the fourth that extended Quincy's advantage to 28-0. Quarterback
Ethen Harrison capped off the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run at the 5:22 mark of the fourth quarter to seal the 34-0 victory.
On offense, Quincy totaled 267 rushing yards on 42 attempts, averaging 6.4 yards per carry with five rushing touchdowns. The Hawks gained 285 total rushing yards while losing just 18, demonstrating complete control at the line of scrimmage.
Quarterbacks
Deuce Allaway and
Ethen Harrison shared duties under center. Allaway completed 6-of-13 passes for 140 yards, while Harrison matched that line with 6-of-13 passing for 65 yards and added 29 rushing yards with a touchdown.
Hector Ramirez also chipped in 27 yards on five carries.
Through the air,
Gregory Quince paced the receiving corps with four receptions for 85 yards.
Evan Lopez added two catches for 49 yards, while
Josiah Oliver-Ross hauled in three receptions for 35 yards.
Nolan Gooding and
Landen Robinson also contributed key catches that helped sustain drives.
Defensively, the Hawks were just as dominant, swarming to the ball and forcing key takeaways throughout the game.
Donnell Packer and
Joell Campos led the charge with six tackles apiece, while Packer made a major impact behind the line with three tackles for loss totaling 16 yards and added a pass breakup.
Drew Paben provided one of the game's biggest highlights, recording his first career interception, which he returned 82 yards to set up the Hawks with prime field position.
Austin Moore made program history by becoming the first player in QU Sprint Football history to record multiple interceptions in a single game. With the performance, Moore now owns eight career interceptions, the most in program history.
With the victory, Quincy improves its season mark and gains momentum heading into next season. The Hawks showcased a balanced offense, a physical rushing attack, and a lockdown defense that continues to define their identity under Coach Burton.
