ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Quincy University men's soccer team picked up a critical victory in the GLVC postseason race, defeating Missouri–St. Louis 1–0 on Sunday afternoon. The result keeps the Hawks inside the top eight of the conference standings as they head into the final weekend of league play.

The decisive moment came early in the match. In the 13th minute, Leo Cann netted his fourth goal of the season, and the fourth game-winner of his career, finishing off a pass from freshman Ismael Allimadi, who earned his first career point with the assist. From there, Quincy leaned on its defense and goalkeeper Jake Offerman, who recorded his sixth shutout of the year with a pair of saves.

UMSL generated pressure with 21 total shots compared to Quincy's 10, but the Hawks' defensive line held firm. Jake Ellis and Paal Vistnes anchored the back line once again, each going the full 90 minutes. It was the 12th full match of the year for Ellis, and his sixth straight, while Vistnes completed his 13th full outing of the season, providing veteran stability against a dangerous Tritons attack.

With the victory, Quincy moves to 19 points in the GLVC standings, sitting tied for seventh with Maryville. The Hawks will now turn their focus to a massive showdown with the Saints, who enter with a 7-6-2 overall record and 6-5-1 GLVC mark. Maryville has had Quincy's number in recent years, winning seven straight in the series, with the Hawks' last victory coming back in 2016. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Friday, October 31st at Legends Stadium, following the women's match, in a contest loaded with playoff implications.
