Quincy, Ill. - Head softball coach Cathy Monroe hires Annika Gels as her new second in command for the 2025 season. Gels comes to Quincy University after a stellar career at Thomas More University. 

A five-year starting pitcher, Gels holds the career record for career strikeouts for the Saints. She also captained the Saints for three years, which included the Saints' exciting 27-19 2023 season where they made a deep run in the Mid-South Conference Tournament.

Gels completed her bachelors degree in accountancy with a minor in business administration while giving pitching lessons and coaching the Bison of Beachwood High School. While at Quincy, she will continue to work toward her masters in business administration, also from Thomas More.
