Orlando, Fla. - The Quincy University dance team dipped their toes in competition season this spring in preparation for Quincy's inaugural competitive dance season in the 2024-2025 school year. The Hawkettes competed at the DTU College Classic Nationals last week (Friday-Saturday,  April 12-13) in Orlando, Florida, and competed in jazz, hip-hop, and pom. 

The Hawkettes brought back three national titles to Quincy. In pom, the Hawkettes placed 14th among Division II colleges. Their jazz performance titled, "There Will Be Time" placed 9th. Their hip-hop routine did exceptionally well, placing fourth among Division II colleges. "The Joker" was choreographed by former Hawkette and assistant coach Hannah Pugh with assistance from senior captain Kealey Atkinson. 

"I could not be more proud of the amazing women who make up the Quincy University Hawkettes Dance Team," head coach Brenna Phillips said. "Being the first dance team in our school's history to compete has been an amazing experience ofr us. For it being our first time competing and bringing home not one, not two, but three national titles is a dream come true. This team has exceeded my expectations and having a fourth place finish to bring home is pretty amazing. This year is jus thte start of what the future is going to hold for this program. I am eager to get back next year and watch the team grow even more as a competitive program. We have high goals set for our competitive team next year and plan to acheive them!"

The Hawkettes plan a full competitive season next season and look forward to building the program.
